Peder Hill Story Structure & Plot

Pretty standard plot structure stuff but hey I don't think about it often enough so like its a great refresher to have. (σˋ▽ˊ)σ

Katz Ch 21 Transitions

I've recently started thinking seriously about transitions because I'm working on my thesis, so I think its really handy to have like a list now of different things I could try. I personally didn't know soft cuts were even a thing before, or at least that they had a name, I didn't know a lot of film techniques had names really, this class has been very enlightening so far.

The Godfather - Horse head Scene

First of all - Gross. Second, I think the steady camera movements and the cross-fades really help sell the slow early morning feel of the scene, the crickets only add to this. The music starting in the third shot gives off this eerie something-is-gonna-happen feel. And the closer we get to the sleeping man, the more the audience can feel that something is wrong, the scene is really quick to confirm that when he shifts in bed and you can see the blood on the blanket. It's a wonder he didn't wake up sooner considering how much blood was there.

Mercado pp 124 - 171

I don't feel like I have a lot to say over this reading. I didn't realize a lot of these types of shots even had names? I don't know I guess it was kinda cool learning about them.
